Among different sorts of adventures, Nepal is considered to be one of the finest destinations for mountain expedition and an adventurous Island peak expedition to Island Peak Climbing is one of them. A popular peak climbing located in kalapather Everest base camp region is startlingly popular among the adventure enthusiasts.

Island Peak climbing  (6189m), having been located in Khumbu region, despite being not located among the mountain giants, has successfully fascinated the adventure lovers around the world for years and the climbers experience a fabulous and exhilarating flavor of Island peak expedition in Nepal. It is said that no sound technical skill of mountaineering is required for a successful scale of Island peak; nevertheless, the finest level of fitness is a must. Both the beginner and the expert can do it.

Island peak climbing is also popular as Imja Tse is often taken as the first attempt for most of the climbers before any technical summit attempt of giant peaks in the Himalaya in Nepal. This adventurous trekking is always combined with  Kalapathar Everest base camp trekking as the climbers require sound acclimatization for a successful attempt of Island Peak. This trekking commences after a scenic and exciting flight from Kathmandu to Lukla. You slowly ascend to Namche and in few days you will get Kalapathar  Everest Base Camp. From Kalapathar  Everest Base Camp you will witness an astonishing view of world tallest mountains soaring up in the horizon. This trek will be a perfect acclimatization for the climbers. The climbers will get some skills and tips for climbing from our experienced mountaineering guide.

Then on the day of scaling the summit, you will move early in the morning. On the very day, you have to confront the rocky ridge full of snow and a glacier to which lead you to the top of Island peak. It is physically demanding but our well-trained mountaineering guide will use crampons, harness, jumar, and ropes if needed for the safe and successful climb. This part 60-70 degree face about 100 meters to the summit ridge is strenuous but on the triumph, this day will be the greatest achievement in your entire life. From the summit of Island peak, you can witness a magnificent panorama of gigantic mountains – Nuptse (7,879m), Lhotse (8,501m), Lhotse central (8,410m) and Lhotse Shar (8,383m) which form a semi-circle in the north and the stunning views of Makalu (8475m), Baruntse (7129m) in the east and exhilarating expedition peak of Amadablam (6812m) in the south – a life-time experience of Island peak expedition combination with Everest base camp in the Himalayas of Nepal.



Day 1:Arrival Kathmandu (1,350m/4,428ft)

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, our representative will receive you there and transfer to hotel. In the evening, we will have short orientation about the trip information and we will let you see your guide and porter or the climbing leader


Day 2:Kathmandu: Sightseeing and preparation

This sightseeing tour commences after breakfast at around 8. You will have lunch during the tour in the afternoon. So, you have better have some money, Nepali currency is expected. For the whole day  You will be exploring Kathmandu valley, a valley of temples, major historical  cultural heritages  like Swoyambhunath, Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bouddhanath, Pashupatinath which are enlisted in UNESCO World heritage sites. The tour ends at around 4 pm-Overnight in Hotel-


Day 3:Kathmandu Lukla - Phakding (2652m) 3 hrs.

The flight to Lukla takes early in the morning. Sometimes the flight to Lukla may get disturbed due to unfavorable weather condition. First, guide will come to receive you at the hotel and take you to the airport  for the flight. It is 35 minutes scenic flight to Tenjing- Hillary airport located into the lap of mountains. After, you get Lukla, you begin to trek down to Pkakding. The trekking offers the first views of astonishing mountains . Finally, you will get Phakding. Overnight at Phakding


Day 4:Trek to Namche Bazar (3440m) 6 hrs.

After your breakfast at Phakding, today’s trekking to Namche begins via Manjo and Jorsalle. The trails takes you along the Dudh Koshi river. Monjo is the entry point of Sagarmatha National Park. Further, trekking will take you to Jorsalle and the trail will go all the way up until you get Namche Bazaar 3441m, one of the tourist hub in Everest region and the gateway to Everest region. Namche offers you beautiful view of Thamserkhu mountain and some others too. Overnight at guest house at Namche.


Day 5:Acclimatization day – Hike to Everest view hotel (3900m) 3-4 hrs. 

This is the rest day for acclimatization. The day will be for hiking to  Syangboche airport 3700m, climbing up to Mt. Everest view hotel . Everest view hotel is a vantage point from where you will witness great panoramic views of Everest, Lhotse, Amadablam, Tawache and many more. We also visit Sherpa Culture Museum and experience their culture-Overnight in guesthouse.


Day 6:Namche Bazaar to Thame (3736m/12255 ft): 5 - 6 hours

After our acclimatization at Namche,  we head to Thame. Thame is a monastery from which the village has been named. The monastery and its ancient arts and architecture are marvelous. The legendary climbers Tenzing Norgay Sherpa an Edmund Hillary have assisted this village a lot. Overnight at guest house at Thame.


Day 7:Thame to Lumde (4368 m/14328 ft): 3- 4 hours

Today’s trekking is relatively shorter than other days. We only have to work for 3-4 hours. We experience beautiful settlements of Sherpa people and enjoy their way of life. We also view some mountain summits. Overnight at guesthouse at Lumde.


Day 8:Lumde: acclimatization day

This is another day for acclimatization. We explore Lumde, the ancient trail to ferry trade from Tibet to Nepal. We also explore the surrounding and relax at Lumde and adjust our body to new elevation in the mountain.


Day 9:Lumde to Gokyo via Renjo La Pass (5360m/17585 ft): 7 - 8 hours

A long day starts early in the morning. The trail ascends until reaching Renjo-La from where an eye-popping vista awaits. Renjo La Pass is one of the highest passes in the world. We will see the rooftops of Gokyo glinting distantly on the shore of the lake beneath the grey shimmer of the Ngozummpa Glacier, and the sawtooth peaks of Everest, Lhotse, Cholatse and Tawache which takes about 4 hours. Then we descend downhill till Gokyo. It takes about 3 hours. Overnight at guesthouse at Gokyo.


Day 10:Acclimatization Day in Gokyo Valley: Hike to Gokyo Ri (5,330 m/17,483 ft)

Early in the morning, we climb  Gokyo-Ri 5360m. The trail steep ascends until reaching Gokyo-Ri which takes about 2 and half hour. This is another super vantage point after Kala Pathar. You have an excellent view of Mt. Everest, Nuptse, Makalu, Lhotse, Cho-Oyu, Pumori, Amadablam and other peaks. You have also an unobstructed view of Sunrise and sunset. After that you steeply climb down to the hotel. It takes about 1 and half hour and you have breakfast. Then, we relax and enjoy variety dishes at Gokyo enjoying the lake view. Overnight at guesthouse at Gokyo.


Day 11:Gokyo to Thaknak (4750 m/15,580 ft): 5-6 hours

Today’s trail is all the way along sand and rocks witnessing avalenches and glaciers. At the same time we capture mesmerizing mountain view. finally, we get to Thaknak. At Thaknak, we do not get many guesthouses and may not be proper accommodation. So, for today we have to consider the food and accommodation. Overnight at guesthouse at Thaknak.


Day 12:Thaknak to Cho La pass (5367 m/17,604 ft) to Lobuche (4940 m/16,207 ft): 8-10 hours

We begin our trekking early in the morning since we have a long day work.  The trail is all the way up till we get Chola Pass. Chola Pass is one of the highest passes in the world. We experience snow at the top of the pass and somehow the trail is slippery too while we are descending down to Lobuche. Then, we finally trek to Lobuche. Overnight at guesthouse at Lobuche.


Day 13: Lobuche to Gorak Shep (5170 m/16,961ft), visit Everest Base Camp (5364 m/17,594 ft): 6-7 hours

Today is the main important day of Everest Base Camp Trekking, our trail to Gorakshep goes ahead through the side of the Khumbu Glacier. Our path passes through the pyramid sign post. A small ascent would take us the Thangma Riju from where we can perceive 360 degree vista of snowcapped mountains. As we reach Gorakshep, the surrounding snow capped mountains, including the top of the world welcome us. From Gorakshep, we trek to Everest Base Camp. After having the rewarding views of Mount Everest and other mountains around our site, we return back to Gorakshep where we stay overnight.


Day 14:Gorak Shep to Kala Patthar (5545m/18,192ft] and back to Lobuche (4940m/16,207ft): 7-8 hours

We climb Kalapatthar early in the morning. It takes around 1 hour to get the top. This vantage point offers us the most astonishing view of mountain peaks including Mt. Everest.  It is normally windy. We came down to Gorekhshep and trek down to Lobuche.


Day 15:Lobuche to Kongma La (5,535m/18,159ft) to Chhukung (4,730m/15,518ft): 6-7 hours

Today, we have another one of the highest passes of the world to pass. From Lobuche, we head to Kongma La Pass. Kongma La Pass is alos a popular view point to witness fabulous mountain views in Everest region. Then, we head to Chukkung Valley. This is a beautiful village. We check our all equipment for the climb at Chukung. Overnight at Guesthouse at Chukkung.


Day 16:Chhukung to Island Peak Base Camp (5,200m/17,060ft), pre-climb training: 3-4 hours trek

The trail today is fairly steep. The winding trail and Imja and Loatse Glacier finally take us to south west side of Island Peak. The leader or the guide will conduct a short training on how to use climbing gears such as the ice axe, climbing boots and crampons, harness, ascender, etc. We also learn how to use rope. These skills will certainly help us to make our climb successful.


Day 17:Island Peak Base Camp to Summit (6,189m/20,305ft), and back to base camp: 10-12 hours

This is the longest and the most important day for us. We have to get up at around 1 am in the morning and have our breakfast because we have to scale the summit before the afternoon. The summit in the afternoon is windy. We pass several crevasses and the leader will fix the rope if it is required. We finally get the summit and enjoy the views and get back to the Base Camp. Overnight at Island Peak Base Camp.


Day 18:Island Peak Base Camp to Pangboche (3,985m/13,074ft) 5-6 hours

Today, We descend down to Pangboche from Island Base Camp. We trek down via Sherpa villages witnessing beautiful view of mountain peaks. Overnight at guesthouse at Pangboche.


Day 19:Pangboche to Namche Bazaar: 4-5 hours

We are descending down to lower elevation to Namche Bazaar. We still capture some of the astonishing views of mountain peaks. We relax at Namche and we even can celebrate our successful climb of Island Peak. Overnight at guesthouse at Namche.


Day 20:Namche Bazaar to Lukla: 6-7 hours

We, today, descend down to Jorsalle and Phakding and finally Lukla. We confirm our short flight from Lukla to Kathmandu. Overnight at guesthouse


Day 21:Fly to Kathmandu

Today, we have a short flight of 35 minutes from Lukla to Kathmandu. We will be received by the representative at kathamndu airport and transferred to airport. In the evening , we enjoy farewell dinner.


Day 22:Final departure

We drop you to the airport for your departure according to your scheduled flight.
