Kathmandu Valley Cycle Tour

Kathmandu Valley cycle Tour is a spectacular cycle tour in Nepal. This tour is a rewarding way to experience an adventure activity and the country life at the same time. Similarly, it is also an active involvement in having tremendous insights of flora and faunas.

And most significantly, riding cycle and witnessing mountain views from different vantage points like Nagarkot, Chisapani, Kakani, Dhulikhel and Changunarayan and Bhaktapur.  We also visit picturesque traditional villages during our ride including Dandagaun, Mulkharka, Banepa, Dhulikhel and Budhanilkantha. These all villages are inhabited by ethnic people with rich in tradition and culture.

Around Kathmandu Valley Cycle Tour is all about being a part of adventurous cycling around the valley connecting to various viewpoints and also collecting the amazing experiences along with mesmerizing mountain views.  At the same time, this cycle tour offers us an opportunity of visiting some historical and cultural sites within the premises of  Kathmandu Valley like Bhaktapur and Changunarayan. We cycle on the off the beaten tracks which are entirely traffic free through lush green forest and vegetations.

We begin ours Around Kathmandu Valley Cycle Tour or 7 night-8day cycle tour from Thamel, Kathmandu. Each of the individual cyclists will get one equipped cycle and head to Kakani. Kakani is a hill station nearby Kathmandu and also popular as the viewpoint to capture magnificent mountain views to the north.

Kakani is very popular for fish (trout). We have our lunch at Kakani and we further cycle to Dandagaun. Dandagaun also is a beautiful hill station with traditional settlements. We spend the night here. The next day we head for Chisapani via Mulkharka. The trail is through dense forest in Shivapuri National Park.

Shivapuri National Park is the closest national park to Kathmandu valley. It is also a  watershed area. Further, the next day, we head to Nagarkot via Chaukibhanjyang. Again, Today’s cycling is largely in Shivapuri National Park. We, finally, get Nagarkot and spend the night there. At Nagarkot, we view sunset and sunrise with splendid mountain peaks.

We, further, continue our cycle tour in order to collect more memorable memories of cultural and natural highlights. In this course, we cycle from Nagarkot to Banepa and Dhulikhel. Banepa and Dhulikhel are also popular viewpoints. We spend the night at Dhulikhel. Then, we embark on a ride to Banepa Via Namobuddha.

Namobuddha is located 40km from the Kathmandu. Namobuddha is most popular for Buddhist pilgrimage site in Nepal call old Thrangu Tashi Yangtse Monastery. It is believed that Lord Buddha reborn as a price and give his body to the starving tigress and her cubs. Banepa is a historical town located in central Nepal at about 1500m above the sea level. It is just 15 km far from the Kathmandu. The main attraction of the Banepa is the Temple of Chandeswori which is believed to have built in the 17th century.

So, Around Kathmandu Valley Cycle Tour is to connect the valley with beautiful tourist destinations closer to it and is to offer the blended flavour of adventure and cultural insights.

Different travelers have different minds; it means different perspectives on travel. Accordingly, considering such different preferences of traveling according to their budget and time frame, this trip program also can be customized.

Tea house trekking?
Tea house trekking takes you to the mountain where you stay every overnight at guest house. Food and accommodations are provided according to your choice at the guest house.

Can I drink the tap water?
We don’t recommend you to drink the tap water in the mountains since it is not safe. To help prevent contamination of the environment, we discourage tourists from drinking from plastic bottles especially when in the mountains. Non-plastic bottle options include:

1) Drinking boiled water from teahouses.
2) Drinking ginger and lemon tea to reduce the need for water consumption.
3) Purifying tap/river water using a chloride pump, iodine, or chloride tablets. The taste of the tablets is not appetising, so it is recommendable to use a dissolvable vitamin tablet to add flavour.

Altitude sickness?
The more you ascend to higher altitude, the more oxygen will be less. Normally, no traveler will be suffered from altitude sickness below 4ooo m. high. But this is not the case always. Those who lack good stamina, physical fitness, those who drink a lot and smoke will likely to suffer altitude sickness.
Mild and common symptoms include headaches (also a symptom of dehydration), low appetite, and restless sleep. More moderate symptoms include vomiting, fatigue, and diarrhoea. Many compare altitude sickness to the sensations of having a hangover. Severe symptoms include blue lips and fingernails, severe difficulty breathing, poor coordination, fatigue, and drowsiness. To avoid altitude sickness, we recommend you to descend down to the lower altitude, hydrate sufficiently and maintain nutrition. In case you have these above mentioned symptoms, inform to our guide since he will be far more experienced than you.

Travel insurance?
It is required to have travel insurance that covers your rescue in case you are suffered any kind of sickness in high altitude including altitude sickness. We hope everything will be fine during the trekking days but sometimes unforeseen circumstances may occur. Many standard polices cover you for trekking to high altituides, such as on the Everest Base Camp and Annapurna Circuit Trek, but it is very important to check this before you go. Here is a list of insurance companies that we have collected information on (however it is your responsibility to confirm that the information on our website correct):
We recommend companies such as Insure and Go, Virgin Money, and The Post office, as they currently cover the altitudes of all our treks.
